Meet Our New Child & Youth Therapist: Samantha “Sami” Simms Offers Creative, Inclusive, Empowering Support.

Updated: 8 hours ago

At Charron Psychotherapy Services, we are deeply committed to expanding access to thoughtful, evidence-informed care for children, youth, and families in our community. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce Samantha “Sami” Simms, RP (Qualifying); our newest therapist with a passion for working with young clients through creative, strengths-based approaches. Sami brings a warm presence, a neuro-affirming lens, and a belief that every child and teen has the potential to grow and thrive when given supportive space to express themselves.

Who Is Sami Simms?

Sami is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who is deeply committed to fostering safe, inclusive spaces where children and youth can feel heard, understood, and accepted just as they are. Her work blends evidence-based therapy with creative expression, offering meaningful support for young clients who may struggle to put their feelings into words. Through creativity, self-exploration, and authentic connection, Sami helps young people build coping skills, strengthen emotional resilience, and better understand themselves. Her approach is neuro-affirming and LGBTQ+-affirming, ensuring that every client feels respected and supported in their unique identity.

A Supportive Space for Children and Youth

Whether a young person is navigating anxiety, identity questions, school stress, behavioural challenges, or family transitions, Sami offers a compassionate place to explore these experiences with patience and safety. Children and teens often communicate best through play, art, and non-verbal expression, and Sami integrates these modalities into her work so that therapy feels inviting, not intimidating.

Some of the ways Sami supports clients include:

  • Creative expression (art therapy) to help externalize emotions and build insight

  • Neuro-affirming support that respects diverse developmental and neurological profiles

  • Identity-affirming care for LGBTQ+ youth and families

  • Emotional regulation and coping skills for stress, overwhelming feelings, and transitions

  • Collaborative goal-setting that empowers young people to lead their therapeutic journey

Parents and caregivers are also welcomed into the process when appropriate, so that support extends across environments and strengthens the child or teen’s broader support network.
